How to Turn Off News Notifications on Facebook

Don’t want to be bothered by news stories on Facebook? Here’s a quick tutorial on how to turn off news notifications on the world’s largest social network.

Open the Facebook app on your iPhone or iPad.

At the top of your News Feed, tap More.
Scroll down and tap Settings.
Next to News, tap the switch to turn off .

Tap the More tab.

1. Tap the More tab.
2. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy > News Feed Preferences.
3. Tap Prioritize Who To See First to make sure your friends and family appear at the top of your news feed.
4. Tap Unfollow people and pages to hide their posts from your news feed. Learn more about unfollowing people and pages.
5. Tap See first to choose which friends and pages you want to see first in your news feed.
6. Tap Close Friends to get notifications whenever your close friends post something. Learn more about adding friends to your Close Friends list.

Scroll down and tap Settings.

From here, scroll down and tap Settings. Under the “Notifications” section, tap News. You can then toggle the slider to the left to turn off news notifications.

Scroll down and tap News.

Assuming you have the latest version of the Facebook app installed on your iPhone or iPad, follow these steps to disable News stories from appearing in your News Feed.

1. Open the Facebook app and tap the three lines in the bottom right corner.
2. Scroll down and tap News.
3. Tap the slider next to Following to turn off news notifications from people and Pages you follow.
4. Tap the slider next to On Facebook to turn off news notifications from Facebook itself.

Tap the switch next to News Notifications.

Open the Facebook app on your device and log in, if necessary. Tap the three vertical lines in the upper-right corner of the screen. Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy, then tap Settings. Scroll down to the Notifications section and tap News Notifications. Tap the switch next to News Notifications to turn it off.
