The Gospel is Good News Because…
The gospel is good news because it is the message of Jesus Christ, who is the only way to salvation. The gospel is also good news because it tells us that we are sinners who need a Savior. The gospel is also good news because it tells us that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that he rose from the dead.
It is the Power of God
The Gospel is Good News Because it is the Power of God.
The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16).
This means that the Gospel is God’s power to save people. It is not our own power or strength. We cannot save ourselves. We are powerless to change our hearts or turn from our sin on our own. But God can! The Gospel is the good news that God has the power to save us from our sin and give us eternal life.
When we trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are saved by His grace. Grace means that we are saved even though we don’t deserve it and can’t earn it. It is a gift from God because of His great love for us (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The Gospel is also good news because it gives us hope for the future. When we trust in Jesus, we have hope for eternal life with Him in heaven (John 3:16). This hope gives us peace and strength to face whatever trials come our way in this life (Philippians 4:6-7).
It is the Wisdom of God
The word gospel means “good news,” and the gospel is indeed good news. But what is this good news? The gospel is the message that God has sovereignly chosen to save sinners from His just wrath by providing His Son, Jesus Christ, as a propitiation—a sacrificial payment—for our sins. This is the gospel in a nutshell. And this is why the gospel is good news.
The gospel is good news because it tells us that we can be saved from God’s wrath. God is holy and just, and His wrath against sin is righteous and deserved. We deserve His wrath because we have sinned against Him. But God, in His mercy, has provided a way for us to be saved from His wrath—by sending His Son to die in our place. When Jesus died on the cross, He took upon Himself the punishment that we deserved, satisfying God’s justice and appeasing His wrath. This is why the cross is such Good News!
The gospel is also Good News because it tells us that we can be saved from our sin. Jesus not only died for our sins; He also rose from the dead, defeating death and offering us new life—eternal life with Him. When we trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, our sins are forgiven and we are given new life in Him. This means that we no longer have to live in condemnation and fear; we can live in freedom and hope! Because of what Jesus has done for us, we can know forgiveness, peace, joy, and hope—both now and forevermore.
It is the Righteousness of God
The Gospel is Good News Because…
It is the Righteousness of God
The Gospel is good news because it is the righteousness of God. The righteousness of God is His perfect holiness and justice. His holiness is His absolute perfection. He is perfectly pure and holy. His justice is His absolute fairness. He always does that which is right and just. He cannot do anything that is not right and just. Therefore, the righteousness of God is His perfect holiness and justice.
The righteousness of God is manifested in the gospel in three ways. First, the gospel declares that all who believe in Jesus Christ are justified before God. Justification means that God declares those who believe in Jesus to be righteous before Him. It does not mean that they become righteous, but rather that He declares them to berighteous. This declaration of righteousness is based solely on the work of Jesus Christ and not on anything we have done or could do. Second, the gospel also declares that all who believe in Jesus Christ are glorified before God. Glorification means that God places us in His heavenly presence forever and gives us perfect joy and bliss in Him forever. This too is based solely on the work of Jesus Christ and not on anything we have done or could do. Third, the gospel also declares that all who believe in Jesus Christ are given eternal life with God forevermore.’
These three things – justification, glorification, and eternal life – are gifts from God to those who believe in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). They are completely unmerited by us; we did nothing to earn or deserve them.’ We receive them by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).
The Gospel is Good News Because It is the Power of God
The gospel is good news because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). The gospel is the good news of what God has done—in sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and be raised from the dead—to save us from his wrath.
It is the Power to Save
The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and rose again from the dead, conquering death. Because of His sacrifice, we can be forgiven and have eternal life. This is the message that we are to proclaim to the world (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The gospel is also the power of God unto salvation. It is His message of love and redemption that has the ability to change hearts and transform lives. When we trust in Christ, He comes into our lives and gives us a new nature. We are no longer slaves to sin but are now children of God who are called to live for Him (Romans 6:17-18; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
The gospel is good news because it is the power of God unto salvation. It brings hope to those who are lost and struggling. It offers forgiveness and new life in Christ. Those who receive it are changed forever.
It is the Power to Sanctify
The gospel is the power of God because it has the ability to sanctify those who believe it. In other words, the gospel changes people. It gives them a new heart and a new desire to follow God. The gospel is not just a set of beliefs or rules to live by; it is the power of God that transforms lives.
It is the Power to Glorify
The gospel is good news because it is the power of God. It is the power to glorify God and to make us like him. It is the power to save us from our sins and to make us into new creations.
The Gospel is Good News Because It is the Wisdom of God
There is a lot of misunderstanding in our world today about what the gospel is. The gospel is not a call to self-improvement or a set of moral principles to live by. Rather, the gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world to save sinners.
It is the Wisdom to Save
Because the gospel is the wisdom of God, it has the power to save us from our sin. The gospel is not just a message of information that we need to learn; it is a power that can change our lives. When we repent and believe in Jesus Christ, we are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are given new life and power to obey God. The gospel is not just good news for our minds; it is also good news for our hearts and lives.
It is the Wisdom to Sanctify
The gospel is good news not just because it tells us that Jesus died for our sins, but also because it is the wisdom of God to sanctify us. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16). It is the wisdom of God because it shows us how to be right with God. It is the power of God because it has the ability to change our lives.
It is the Wisdom to Glorify
When we think of the gospel, “good news” is often the first thing that comes to mind. And it’s true that the gospel is good news. It’s the good news that God has provided a way for us to be forgiven and to have a relationship with him.
But the gospel is also much more than just good news. It’s the wisdom of God. In 1 Corinthians 1:18-25, Paul tells us that the gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing and it’s the wisdom of God to those who are being saved.
The gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing because they think they can save themselves. They don’t see their need for a Savior. But for those of us who realize we can’t save ourselves, the gospel is the wisdom of God. It shows us that God is wise enough to provide a way for us to be forgiven and to have a relationship with him.
The gospel is also the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18). This is because it’s not just information; it’s Good News! The gospel has the power to change our lives and to give us hope. When we understand and believe the gospel, we are transformed by its power. We are given new life in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
So, when we think about the gospel, let’s not just think of it as good news. Let’s also think of it as the wisdom and power of God that can change our lives forever.
The Gospel is Good News Because It is the Righteousness of God
The Gospel is Good News Because It is the Righteousness of God that is apart from the Law. When Jesus died on the cross, He died as a substitute for sinners. He satisfied the Law’s requirements for sinners. He became sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
It is the Righteousness to Save
The righteousness that God requires His people to have is not their own righteousness, but the righteousness of Christ. God’s righteousness is manifested in the person and work of Jesus Christ. When we trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, His righteousness is credited to our account (2 Corinthians 5:21). This imputed righteousness is the ground of our justification before God. We are justified, not because of our own goodness, but because we have the righteousness of Christ.
It is the Righteousness to Sanctify
The Gospel is Good News Because It is the Righteousness to Sanctify – Romans 1:17
“For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed-a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
The word “righteousness” in this verse can be defined as meaning “innocence, faultlessness, and justice.” In other words, it is a perfect standard. This righteousness of God that is revealed in the gospel is His divine quality of being just and holy. It is His changeless rightness of character and action. And it is this righteousness that He requires us to have if we are to be accepted by Him.
So how can we have this righteousness? The answer is simple: we must receive it by faith from first to last. We must believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). When we do this, God imputes or credits His righteousness to us (2 Corinthians 5:21). This means that He counts us as being just and holy in His sight because of what Jesus Christ has done for us. This is good news!
It is the Righteousness to Glorify
The gospel is good news because it is the righteousness of God. It is not just a message about forgiveness or grace, though those are important aspects of the gospel. It is first and foremost the message that God himself is righteous and that his righteousness will be vindicated in the world. This is why the gospel is such good news!
